Tell Your Representative Severe
Restrictions on the Movement of Goods and People are Counterproductive to the
U.S. Goal of a Stable and Secure Middle East
~December 14, 2009~
As the Christmas season
approaches CMEP asks that you take a minute to help bring peace to the Holy
Land. Contact your Representative and tell them that the status quo in Gaza is
counterproductive to the U.S. goal of a secure Israel and viable Palestinian
state. Severe restrictions on the movement of goods and people in Gaza impose
suffering on 1.5 million people and create friction between the parties, making
it more difficult for the U.S. to lead Israelis and Palestinians to peace.
Ask your Representative to Sign the McDermott-Ellison letter to President Obama!
Your Representative needs to know that strict limitation of goods into Gaza has
public health consequences for both Israelis and Palestinians. Without access to
tools and equipment to reconstruct, maintain, and operate water and sanitation
facilities in Gaza there are now millions of gallons of un-treated waste water
being dumped daily into the Mediterranean Sea. This is a public health issue for
Israelis and Palestinians.
Have your Representative Sign a letter to President Obama asking him to
improve conditions in Gaza so Palestinians can repair critical water
infrastructure and address rampant water contamination that harms Israelis and
Palestinians.
During the winter, the needs of civilians in Gaza are growing ever more
pressing. It is imperative that the U.S. ensures that the needs of civilians in
Gaza are met, while simultaneously ensuring the security needs of Israel.
Peace in the Holy Land is Possible!
Contact your Representative now and ask them to improve conditions in Gaza
because the status quo is creating a dangerous situation for Israelis,
Palestinians, and the peace process.
