Below, please find the press release that was distributed nationally prior to last week's Sept. 12 press conference on Iraq.  CMEP held the event on the House of Representatives' side of Capitol Hill, managing to pull together the letter and all other pieces of the event in one week. Coverage has been good, based largely on the timeliness of the event.  CNN and Fox News were both present at the news conference, and National Public Radio ran a piece about it during its news that evening.  A Religion News Service story has been picked up in several newspapers throughout the country thus far, and a DC "insiders" publication (primarily for lobbyists, etc.) is running a piece. If you see or hear coverage about the church leaders'' letter in your local media, please let us know.

What You Can Do:  The church leaders' letter on Iraq that you received earlier from Corinne, as well as this press release, can serve as background information for your own letter to the editor. Also, feel free to contact your newspaper's editorial board, bring the church leader's letter to their attention, and ask if they would include this moral voice in any editorializing they do on the U.S. and Iraq.  You can also take these same actions with news and program directors at your television and local radio stations.
